When we remember Albert Einstein, we inevitably build-up the pictures of the icon in our minds. But do you know that beneath this legend is a man whose life can inspire your child to foster confidence within them? Keep reading this DYPDSS blog to discover some valuable lessons that can nurture your child's principles.
Psychologists often describe confidence as a person's belief in their own ability or feeling assured of one's own worth. Naturally, every parent would like their child to be self-confident to succeed in life. But, what seems to be a challenge is that parents find it difficult to strike a healthy balance in encouraging confidence within their children. They want their children to nurture confidence but they also don't want them to get too arrogant. Without revolting against children's nature, it's difficult for parents to teach confidence to them. Though we know Albert Einstein only for his work, here are some life lessons from the genius that can teach children to be more confident.
Being wrong sometimes is not a matter to worry
Einstein rightly earned his place in history and is considered one of the greatest legends, but that does not mean that he was always right. In fact, sometimes he was wildly off the mark too. We tend to remember Einstein only as the brilliant, incredibly creative mathematician and he was certainly that, but also he was something much more. He was intensely a man who struggled, made mistakes, but still chose to always march ahead.
So, it's okay if your child gets wrong sometimes. Let them learn from their mistakes by themselves. This will make your child be more confident in whatever they do in their life ahead.
Embrace imaginations
Albert Einstein was one of the biggest preachers of imagination and visualization. He once said, " Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere."
Children's imagination is boundless. Embracing it in the right way will help them visualize more in life and will eventually help them grow. Their dreams may seem unrealistic at the moment, but their expectations shouldn't be lowered for their dreams.
Consistency and persistency needs to be encouraged
When Einstein was just a child, he was considered a slow learner. But he was patient as he knew he was going in the right direction. Later on, he also had problems in school. As one can see, obstacles and challenges were always surrounding him, but he was persistent, and eventually, he achieved his goals.
Your child may also encounter many setbacks in life too. Just ensure that your child isn't getting demotivated by those setbacks and avoid trying to be their savior always. Give them a chance to figure out things on their own. To become confident, children need to learn it's okay to take challenges in life and fail. This will help them become more resilient in life.
Confidence is one of the most potent weapons your child can possess to succeed in life. Empower them accordingly.
